ONE in six people in Ireland have struck a deal with their lender easing their home loan with almost 40,000 getting help with payments over the last four years.
Of the 738,506 outstanding mortgages worth more than 100billion 121,140 have benefited from restructuring arrangements at some stage up to the end of September 2016.
This compares to 81,683 deals done by the end of September 2012 meaning 39,457 have managed to strike deals since then.
According to the Central Bank data, there were 141 repossessions in foot of an order during the second quarter of 2016.
This compares to just 47 in the three months up to the end of September 2012.
