Business recovery practice Begbies Traynor has said the number of failing companies has increased this year due to ongoing political uncertainty and a slowdown in consumer spending.
Begbies Traynor said it was well placed to capitalise on the growing number of insolvencies in the UK, which are beginning to rise after years of decline.
The number of insolvencies has been falling steadily since 2009, with Begbies Traynor saying numbers last year were at their lowest level since 2004.
But Ric Traynor, the companys executive chairman, said 2016 was also the first year since the recession when the number of insolvencies did not fall any further.
