A barmaid with 30 years experience claimed she poured short measures because she was a bit shaky making drinks.
But the error was enough to see her boss, a 60-year-old nurse, hauled to court for the first time in her life.
Ship Inn landlady Margaret Ann Calvert was prosecuted following a trading standards sting at the Guisborough pub.
But magistrates took pity on her after Teesside Magistrates Court heard how the pub was struggling.
Snapped up in 2008 by Calvert and her partner when business was booming, its previous leaseholder was declared insolvent.
And since then shes been forced to keep it running so staff stay in work.
Thats despite it only making £10,000 profit, with Calvert unable to even take a wage.
