Boris Becker has denied that he is broke despite being declared bankrupt by a court in London and having claims against him for more than £50 million.
The tennis champion, who won six grand-slam tournaments, told a Swiss newspaper that he had sufficient funds and sponsorship deals to pay his way.
Becker, 49, once one of the richest sportsmen in the world with an estimated fortune of £35 million, was reported in the summer to have assets of only 540,000 after an expensive divorce, failed business deals and years of profligate living.
The bulk of his alleged debts was 38.4 million claimed by Hans-Dieter Cleven, a Swiss businessman who was his long-term business adviser until a breakdown in relations. Becker denied owing him any money.
