The retired tennis star Boris Becker has insisted that he will clear his name over allegations that he concealed his Wimbledon trophies, an Olympic gold medal and more than 1 million in cash during bankruptcy proceedings.
Mr Becker, 52, is standing trial at Southwark crown court for allegedly failing to declare more than two dozen assets and financial transfers, including a 105,497 payment to his estranged wife, Lilly, after he was formally declared insolvent in 2017. He denies all 28 charges.
Yesterday he said that he trusted the British legal system and its representatives to treat him fairly and get to the bottom of the truth.
