A crop-sitter caught with more than 180kg of cannabis at a Cobram house has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison.
Khanh Quoc Nguyen, 43, pleaded guilty in the County Court to cultivating a commercial quantity of cannabis between May 19 and August 19 last year.
Police found 180 plants weighing 49.5kg, along with 130.6kg of dry harvested cannabis, after executing a warrant on the Boorin St house on August 18, 2020.
This is more than seven times what is considered a commercial quantity.
A Vietnamese man, Nguyen, who is not lawfully in Australia, was found hiding in a bush when police arrived, while a co-accused fractured both his legs after attempting to jump from the roof of the house to a neighbouring property.
