(Bloomberg) — A UK energy company that allows households and communities to own a stake in solar and wind farms has entered administration, according to an email it sent to customers.

Ripple Energy Ltd. provided a platform for people to buy into renewable power plants in exchange for getting money off their bills. The company partnered with energy suppliers such as Centrica Plc’s British Gas, E.ON Next and Good Energy Group Plc to buy electricity from cooperatively owned projects.
