Hundreds of workers at scrap metal recycler Unimetals are facing redundancy after the company filed a petition for compulsory liquidation this week.
The Stratford-upon-Avon based firm, which holds operator licences in almost every traffic area and is authorised to run between five and 44 HGVs from each of its sites, has been fighting for survival in recent months. After struggling financially, it filed three notices of intention to appoint administrators but has now moved to wind itself up following the failure of a rescue deal.
