Latest monthly statistics from the Insolvency Service show that there were 351 business insolvencies registered in Northern Ireland in 2025, which was an increase of 15% from 2024 (305 insolvencies).
The increase was largely driven by a 56% increase in compulsory liquidations, although the number of CVLs decreased by 22%, while administrations increased by 47% and CVAs increased by 16% from 2024 numbers.
Personal inolvency figures also increased by 4% when compared to 2024. Personal insolvency figures totalled 1,599 in 2025, 4% higher than in 2024.
