According to a notice taped to the door of Direct Carpets Hampshire, the business has gone into liquidation.
The letter read: “Direct Carpets Hampshire has gone into liquidation; we are sorry for any inconvenience caused.
“All customers will be contacted in due course.”
The notice added: “Sorry it come to this and for any upset or inconvenience caused.”
Located at 2 Shirley Avenue, the property has been listed for sale with a guide price of £460,000.
The sales brochure states that both two‑bedroom flats above the shop are let on assured shorthold tenancies, while the shop itself had been rented on a long lease before the business collapsed.
