An update has been issued on the future of a huge UK steel firm which plunged into liquidation, putting 1,450 jobs at risk.
The government’s Insolvency Service has today issued an update on Speciality Steel UK, which has sites in British steel heartlands Sheffield and Rotherham in South Yorkshire.
The firm crashed into liquidation in August before the government announced it had taken control of the third-largest steelworks in the UK.
The high court confirmed that Speciality Steel UK – previously part of Sanjeev Gupta’s Liberty Steel business – would face a compulsory liquidation. It was then placed into the hands of the government’s Official…
