Maneuver aimed at protecting individual parishes from further liability once bankruptcy and and settlements for sex abuse claims are finalized
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Parishioners at catholic churches throughout the Buffalo Diocese were informed this weekend that their parishes will all be declaring bankruptcy.
The legal maneuver is related to efforts by the diocese to emerge from bankruptcy and settle numerous childhood sex abuse claims.
It was a move that was neither unexpected nor without precedence..
