Betts, one of Australia’s oldest shoe retailers, has called in voluntary administrators and will shut more than half its stores as it undertakes a massive sale to clear remaining stock.
The 134-year-old family-owned retailer, which at its peak had nearly 220 stores across the nation, will close 20 of its remaining 35 stores as the business transitions to online-only operations.
More than 120,000 pairs of shoes and accessories will be heavily discounted as administrators from Pitcher Partners assess the business.
