Sono Motors GmbH, the German solar mobility solutions company, has ceased its operational business effective July 31, 2026. It has initiated insolvency proceedings after failing to secure sustainable financing during a restructuring process.
The restructuring followed the withdrawal of its primary investor, Sono Group N.V., from the company’s solar division in March 2026. According to Sono Motors, despite extensive discussions with potential investors, it was unable to secure the funding needed to continue operations.
