The collapse of Bathla has caught out some of the country’s biggest private credit and real estate firms, with the embattled development giant calling in administrators as it is unable pay back loans of more than $3.5 billion.
The business cited surging construction costs and a worsening property downturn for calling in insolvency specialists Teneo, leaving almost 26,000 homes under development across Sydney’s west in limbo.
