The Tel Aviv District Court this week declared OpenWeb insolvent and ordered the appointment of a temporary receiver following a request from Mars Growth Capital, part of Liquidity Group, according to the Israeli business publication Globes. Mars is seeking to enforce liens on OpenWeb’s assets over roughly $20 million in outstanding debt, Globes reported.
The proceedings cap a tumultuous stretch for OpenWeb, whose technology helps publishers operate and monetize on-site communities, such as comment sections.
The company said it had engaged with several potential buyers and alternative lenders in 2026, but its board ultimately could not reach an agreement with its lenders that would allow it to kick off a restructuring plan.
