Corporate insolvencies in Germany reached their highest monthly level in 13 years in July, with local courts registering 2,373 cases, an 8% increase from a year earlier, official data showed Friday.
The figure was the highest monthly total since July 2013, when 2,459 cases were recorded, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).
In the first seven months of 2026, corporate insolvencies rose 6.9% year on year to 15,185 cases.
Creditors’ claims associated with those insolvencies totaled approximately €21.9 billion ($25.4 billion), down from €31.8 billion in the same period last year.
