Polish courts declared 43 corporate bankruptcies in September 2026, up 72% from August, while 422 restructuring proceedings were initiated, 14.1% more than a year earlier, according to MGBI data published on 8 October.
New bankruptcy applications nevertheless declined, making the overall picture more mixed than the headline bankruptcy increase suggests.
Bankruptcies: 43 in September
There were 25 declared bankruptcies in August and 38 in September 2025. September’s 43 cases therefore represent increases of 72% month on month and 13.2% year on year. The sharp monthly percentage partly reflects August’s low base.
