The Newcastle Herald reported in April 2025 that Gallipoli Legion Club, nicknamed The Gal, was facing closure due to “dwindling numbers, money troubles, competition on Beaumont Street” and what then venue operations and accounts manager Jared Ford described as a “massive COVID hangover”.
