A major Alabama truck company abruptly shut down this week, leaving the future of hundreds of employees uncertain, according to Mutha Trucker, a YouTube channel covering the trucking industry.
The channel reports that Birmingham-based Montgomery Transport LLC has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and has immediately ceased operations, with about 1,000 employees now out of work.
The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
According to information from that YouTube channel, the company was in the process of being sold, with the final date set for Sept. 30.
