German publishing house Steidl Verlag, which specialises in photography books, avoided bankruptcy following the closure of insolvency proceedings on 23 July. Founded in 1968 by Gerhard Steidl, the company entered preliminary insolvency proceedings after a complaint was filed by Minijob-Zentrale, the body responsible for collecting social security contributions for certain part-time employees.\n
According to several German media outlets, the company was accused of failing to pay the wages of several employees for several months and of not paying certain social security contributions.
