An Aussie holiday firm that boasted that its customers could “travel more and spend less” has plunged into liquidation.
Melbourne-based AVG Travels, which offered discounted international travel to thousands of Aussies, appointed liquidators this week – leaving customers scrambling to fix their plans.
The announcement follows days of uncertainty for customers, who reported their tours were being cancelled or placed under review just days before they were scheduled to depart.
The company has appointed insolvency firm McGrathNicol as its liquidator. It will take control of AVG Travels’ operations and assess what can be recovered for customers and creditors.
