Former England loose forward Lawrence Dallaglio has been forced to part with his 2003 World Cup winner’s medal and other memorabilia.
The 54-year-old, who was declared bankrupt last year, has put the medal from England’s triumph in Australia up for auction with an estimated value of £50,000 to £80,000 (R1.1-million to R1.7-million).
Dallaglio started at No 8 when England beat the Wallabies 20-17 after extra time in the 2003 World Cup final in Sydney.
The medal is one of several pieces from Dallaglio’s decorated career that are being auctioned.
His runners-up medal from the 2007 World Cup, where England lost to the Springboks in the final in Paris, is valued at £10,000 (R218,000), while his 2003 Six Nations winner’s medal…
