A County Durham firm that has sold motorbike leathers for four decades has gone into liquidation, with its boss accusing the government of “killing the UK”.
Scott Leathers in Barnard Castle was officially wound down as a company on March 26, with lawyers brought in to sell off its assets.
The boss of the company, which made and sold bespoke motorbike leathers, said it employed half-a-dozen people at the time of its closure, and has hit out at the state of the country.
Former managing director, ex-British champion motocross rider Jim ‘Jimmy’ Aird, 78, said: “It is very sad, but what can we do?”
According to Mr Aird, the company could not ‘keep up’ with rising costs.
