Roughly 2,300 employees at German battery manufacturer Varta are waiting to learn their fate after the company filed for insolvency late last month — but the man tasked with steering the process says interest from outside investors is running high.
Tobias Wahl, the preliminary insolvency administrator from law firm Anchor, told reporters on 31 July 2026 that a “gratifyingly large” number of parties had come forward with expressions of interest in keeping the business afloat. Wahl, who took up his post on 28 July, said the priority now is preserving as many jobs as possible while a suitable buyer is identified.
