Fresh concerns have emerged over the financial management of the now-defunct Byron Bay Bluesfest, with a liquidator’s report indicating the festival’s operating companies may have traded while insolvent for months prior to their collapse in March.
The findings, revealed in a statutory report prepared by insolvency firm Worrells, add a new dimension to the demise of one of Australia’s best known music festivals, which was cancelled less than three weeks before its scheduled Easter 2026 opening and left creditors facing losses exceeding $10 million.
