Former Queensland Government minister Leanne Donaldson has opened up about her struggle with mental illness, revealing depression contributed heavily to her personal financial problems.
Ms Donaldson, the Member for Bundaberg, resigned as the minister for agriculture and fisheries earlier this month, following mounting revelations about her personal finances.
She had had an outstanding council rates debt of almost $8,000, and admitted she had missed some mortgage payments two years ago.
She has now addressed speculation surrounding the cause of those debts, revealing her ongoing battle with depression as the underlying issue.
