INDEPENDENT WA Senator Rod Culleton has been declared bankrupt in the Federal Court in Perth, following a ruling made today.
On Sunday night, Senator Culleton announced hed quit the One Nation party that he was initially elected on at the July 2 poll, ahead of a hearing in the Federal Court on Monday over the bankruptcy charges.
Its understood the bankruptcy ruling today has given Senator Culleton 21 days to appeal the decision, which will determine whether he is eligible to remain a federal Senator.
The bankruptcy charges relate to a claim made by former Wesfarmers director Dick Lester for $280,000 relating to a soured farming property deal.
