The disgraced lawyer accused of bringing baseless war crimes allegations against British troops faces investigation over whether he transferred his house to his daughters to avoid claims of up to £4 million.
Phil Shiner declared himself bankrupt this week as it emerged that his house, worth about £330,000, had been transferred to his daughters before he was struck off the roll of solicitors for misconduct.
Experts said yesterday that the house could be recovered from his daughters if it was found that he had deliberately transferred it to avoid debts. It also emerged that Mr Shiner had sold the Birmingham offices of Public Interest Lawyers, his defunct firm, about two weeks ago for about £335,000.
