Longtime talk show host and author Dr. Phil McGraw was on the other side of a tongue lashing in court this week as he suffered a major setback related to the bankruptcy of his media company Merit Street Media (MSM). On Tuesday, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Scott Everett ruled that McGraw cannot continue the proceedings under Chapter 11 and must continue with the Chapter 7 liquidation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Along with issuing the ruling, Everett sharply criticized McGraw for his attempts to “game” the bankruptcy by paying certain favored creditors over others and for deleting allegedly incriminating text messages.
