Business creation has slumped in Northern Ireland over the last quarter as insolvency pressures ease, signalling a cautious but stabilising corporate landscape, a new report says.
Company registrations in the region fell in the April-June quarter, according to business recovery organisation R3’s latest business health report, based on data from Creditsafe.
The data suggests business confidence remains subdued, although the north also recorded a decline in insolvency-related activity.
The report found that 2,352 new companies were registered in Northern Ireland during the second quarter of this year.
That’s 16% lower than the same period last year (2,790) and 8% down on the previous quarter (2,549).
