Former Cardiff City midfielder Philip Mulryne has been ordained as a deacon in the Catholic Church at a ceremony in Dublin.
The 27-cap Northern Irish international played four times for the Bluebirds between 2005 and 2007 and played for Manchester United in 1998.
Mulryne progressed through the youth teams with Man United, before heading off in search of regular football.
He spent the majority of his career with Norwich City – winning promotion to the Premier League with the Canaries in 2004.
He was ordained by the Archbishop of Dublin, Diarmuid Martin on Saturday.
The 38-year-old finished his playing career in 2008 at non-league Kings Lynn before devoting his time to the church.
