Former England and Liverpool winger John Barnes has been declared bankrupt.
A bankruptcy order was issued on September 23 by the High Court of Justice after a petition was filed on August 8. The notice was published in the London Gazette.
Barnes’ company, John Barnes Media, received a winding up order in March 2023 and has since been liquidated. Documents published on Companies House in June show bills totalling £1.5million ($2m). The 61-year-old has repaid £60,000 ($80,690).
Barnes spoke about his financial situation on the All Things Business Podcast in August.
