Duncan Ferguson has admitted that it ‘hurt’ to declare himself bankrupt after the former Newcastle United star racked up millions of pounds worth of debt.
The Scot was the first to acknowledge that he was ‘never great’ with money following a string of ‘bad investments’, including film tax schemes. The result? Ferguson and wife Janine had to pawn around £1m of jewellery for a few hundred thousand pounds; sell a handful of apartments in Liverpool; and let go of a piece of land in Mallorca at a knockdown price after previously purchasing it for £2m.
