Martin – who owned the Shrimpers between 1998 and 2024 – attended the Chief Insolvency and Companies Court this morning but the hearing was put back until later in the afternoon due to an ongoing issue surrounding costs and petition.

However, once it resumed Judge Briggs announced the bankruptcy.
He said: “The time is 14.11. The papers are in order and the debt has not been paid. EU regulations apply as so far as they apply for England and Wales. I shall make a bankruptcy order.
“It is the 6th January 2026.”
Martin was in attendance for both hearings.
