Dad Abid Elahi turned to dealing cannabis after racking up 30,000 of gambling debts.
The 37-year-old was found with a large amount of drugs packaged in various weights at his Shelton home.
He refused to answer any questions in his police interview, but his fingerprints were found on the packaging.
Now Elahi has been sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
Prosecutor Antony Longworth said police executed a search warrant at the defendants home in Cauldon Road at 6pm on October 12, 2018.
“The police raided the address he was renting. They found cannabis, scales, cash and paraphernalia. No one else was present. He was arrested,” added Mr Longworth.
