HMRC has filed a petition which seeks to have Liverpool Football Club legend and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher declared bankrupt over an unpaid tax bill.
Court listings were filed yesterday, showing that the case was filed against James Lee Duncan Carragher by a solicitor to HMRC, which is the department of the UK government responsible for the collection of taxes.
Court listings show the case was listed for yesterday, August 27, with Mr Carragher listed as a litigant in person.
Jamie Carragher is one of Liverpool’s most recognisable former players, having made 737 appearances for the Reds in a glittering career. He is ranked as the club’s second-time highest appearance maker behind Ian Callaghan.
