The German instrument-making company Höfner, which built Paul McCartney‘s famous violin-shaped bass, has filed for insolvency, citing US tariffs as a key factor in the decision.
Relatively few details about the process have been made available to the public, but the company has filed for “provisional insolvency administration” as of December 11, and an insolvency administrator has been appointed. They will attempt to settle the company’s debts over the next three months.
