A dispute between members of the wealthy Nakhle family has seen two companies liquidated over claims of insolvency, broken relationships and allegations of more than $40m being misappropriated.
The prominent South Auckland family comprises father Elias, mother Henriette and sons Daniel, David and Roger, who made their fortune in property development before branching into hospitality, education, quarrying and thoroughbreds, among other things.
There’s also a political link, with Roger’s wife, Rima Nakhle, serving as the MP for Takanini where the Nakhle Group is based. Rima will contest the seat again in November, and sits at number 45 on National’s list.
