The crisis in Romanian agriculture is deepening: following another quarter of decline, the number of agricultural companies entering insolvency has reached a level not seen in recent years. According to an analysis carried out by CITR, the market leader in insolvency and restructuring in Romania, based on data provided by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC) and its own financial analyses of the agricultural sector, insolvencies have risen by almost 80 per cent, from 127 cases in H1 2025, to 226 cases in H1 2026. Furthermore, by mid-April 2026, the number of insolvencies in the agricultural sector had already reached the level recorded during the entire first half of last year.
