A Katikati horticultural employer has been placed into liquidation seven years after it ceased trading, owing hundreds of thousands in unpaid taxes and penalties.
The first liquidator’s report for NZ Vine Care shows the tax office is listed as a preferential creditor, and the only creditor, with the amount of debt from PAYE, GST and penalties totalling $845,000. Other unlisted creditors are being encouraged to contact the liquidator.
The liquidation comes just hours after the publication of a second Employment Relations Authority determination relating to another Kiwifruit labour hire company, NZ Dream Contracting Limited, ordering it to pay its former employees $23,219.50 for unpaid wages and other costs.
