A young man has choked back tears while telling a Melbourne court his former mate confessed to slitting the throat of a 24-year-old cannabis dealer.
The man, “Witness A”, said Christopher Lavery, who is standing trial for the 2008 murder of James Russouw, also claimed Lavery threatened to kill him and his family if he “ever told anyone”.
Another witness on Thursday told the Supreme Court of Victoria trial that before the murder, Lavery had built up a $19,000 gambling debt.
