There was over 70 business closures across the Northern Sound region in 2025.
That’s according to figures released by the Department of Enterprise, of companies registered with the Companies Registration Office (CRO).
This does not include sole traders or unincorporated entities.
Figures showed that in Co. Cavan 36 businesses ceased trading in 2025.
This included 34 voluntary strike offs, a total liquidation, and a voluntary member’s closure.
Meanwhile, in Co. Monaghan 40 businesses ceased trading last year.
37 of these were voluntary strike-offs, and three were voluntary member’s closures.
According to Minister for Enterprise, Peter Burke, businesses can close for a variety of reason.
