A South Australian renewable energy company with contractual ties to the state government has entered voluntary administration.
ZEN Energy was once an emerging player in the renewables transition, and has been involved with multiple solar farms and battery-powered storage projects, including in the Riverland and at Tailem Bend.
In 2020, the company announced it had signed a decade-long contract to power state government sites.
But in a statement today ZEN said while it had “been pursuing a restructuring and recapitalisation exercise” in recent months, the company’s viability had been impacted by “wholesale electricity volatility”.
