The stores, run by Billy Bone but branded under the Premier network, are shutting up shop as the owner appoints Armstrong Watson as liquidator to assist in placing the company into liquidation.
While owner Mr Bone praised both his loyal staff and local supporters, news of the closure has touched a nerve with locals, former staff and others who relied on these much-loved corner shops found on Wigton Road, Bedford Road, Blackwell Road, Newlaithes Avenue, and Warwick Road.
Facebook erupted with sadness but also warmth for the longstanding stores and the loss to the community.
