Customers of collapsed solar power company SolarZero say everyone is looking for a way out as they grapple with the high cost of buying their way out of contracts, a lack of the savings they were promised on their power bills, and the disconnection of a free customer service line.
The country’s largest solar power supplier, which was bought from its Kiwi founders by the US investment fund BlackRock in 2022, announced in November last year it was being put into liquidation. All 160 staff were terminated with immediate effect and nearly $40 million was left owing to employees, tradies, suppliers and other creditors.
