The ringleader in the kidnapping and bashing of a Sydney man over a $1200 drug debt has been jailed for at least five years and seven months.
In sentencing Pranil Ravi Kishinchand, Judge Sharron Norton said the victim was detained for almost 24 hours, repeatedly punched in the face and a photo of him with significant facial injuries was texted to his mother.
The message demanded $1200 to secure the release of her 24-year-old son, whose severe injuries included a broken eye socket
In the NSW District Court on Thursday, the judge jailed the 33-year-old for eight years with a non-parole period of five years seven months.
