Ten Teamsters local unions sued Schwebel Baking Co. for allegedly breaking union contracts by cutting off health insurance, pension contributions, and vacation pay during the company’s liquidation, seeking a court order to freeze assets until arbitration is completed.
The unions filed the lawsuit under the Labor Management Relations Act, according to a complaint filed Sunday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. The lawsuits alleges Schwebel violated multiple collective bargaining agreements covering workers in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
