Back in July, the Multi-State Lottery Association made a significant tweak to the Powerball lottery: They made it more difficult to win.
For the 36 states participating in the popular game, the odds of taking home the jackpot prize increased by about one-in-120 millionfrom one-in-175,223,510 to one-in-292,201,338while the odds of taking home a $4 payout improved from one-in-111 to one-in-92. The rule changes were intended to “increase the odds of winning any prize, while making it more difficult to win the jackpot prize,” according to the New York State Gaming Commission…
