A Tory councillor who was landed with an £80,000 legal bill after slapping an elderly political rival could now lose her home after being declared bankrupt.
Cllr Penny Jackman, 52, was ordered to pay compensation to rival Mike Beggs, who was standing for UKIP, after she slapped him at an election count in 2012 during a row over political leaflets.
Mr Beggs lost several teeth after he was struck on his left cheek and was forced to fork out £7,500 for implants and crowns.
Cllr Jackman has paid almost £15,000 in damages to Mr Beggs following the attack, but has not been able to pay the £73,000 in court costs she was ordered to pay in November 2015.
